Oyster Creek Municipal Court Dress Code & Rules

AUTHORITY FOR RULES

Under the inherent power and duty of all Texas Courts as codified in Section 21.002, Government Code, the following Rules of Conduct and Decorum shall apply and govern any and all proceedings held before the Municipal Court of the City of Oyster Creek, Brazoria County, State of Texas.

COURT PROCEDURES & PROTECAL

The court docket is the schedule of the court. Dockets are listed in the below links. Defendants will always be expected to adhere to the procedures and protocol of the court, including proper attire. In the courtroom, all mobile devices, including phones, must be turned off. No food or drinks are allowed in the courtroom at any time. Photography and audio recordings are prohibited. Complete details about conduct and protocol while in the court are detailed below.

NO WEAPONS ARE PERMITTED EXCEPT THOSE CARRIED OR POSSESSED BY COMMISSIONED PEACE OFFICER(S).

COURT SECURITY

For your safety, ALL persons and property entering courtroom will be subject to a search for weapons and other prohibited items.

ITEMS PROHIBITED UNDER TEXAS PENAL CODE 46.05 (A):

  • Firearms
  • Knives
  • Clubs & Knuckles
  • Chemical Weapons
  • Explosive Devices & Hoax Bombs
  • Any other item for the purpose as a weapon

Prepare to empty pockets, open purses, bags, brief-cases, back-packs, etc.., For security viewing, or leave in your vehicle. Visitors possessing's prohibited items may be subject to arrest.

CONDUCT REQUIRED OF ALL PERSONS WHILE ATTENDING COURT

While Court is in session there shall be:

  • No Smoking, tobacco products, electronic cigarettes and/or smokeless tobacco
  • No chewing gum or candy.
  • No reading newspapers or magazines.
  • No talking or loud noises.
  • No food or beverages.
  • No leaning on the bench.
  • No video or audio recording equipment of any kind shall be turned on in the Courtroom without the prior approval of the Judge. Such equipment includes but is not limited to: video camera, still cameras, and all audio recording devices
  • Disruptive children may be asked to step out of the court room.
  • Electronic devices must be turned off.

NO INAPPROPRIATE ATTIRE INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Tank tops
  • Muscle shirts
  • Flip flops
  • Vulgar, offensive language alcohol/drug related clothing
  • Shorts
  • Hats
  • Sunglasses
  • Backpacks/over-sized bags

COURT DATES

All court dates fall on Tuesdays. This is the only days that the Judge is in office. Your court date is located on the top of the citation provided to you.
